Abstract

1523152 Coated products DUNLOP Ltd 9 April 1976 [17 May 1975] 21070/75 Heading B2E [Also in Divisions B5 and D1] A flexible composite fire-barrier comprising one or more fibrous, fire-resistant materials (defined) and one or more thermally intumescent materials in which the materials are laminated or interpenetrating with respect to each other. Material (a) may comprise carbon fibres, asbestos fibres, glass fibres, alumina or zirconia fibres or fibres of polybenzimidazole or phenol-formaldehyde condensate e.g. a novolak resin. Material (b) may be chlorosulphonated polyethylene or a polyurethane. The lamination of materials (a) and (b) may be achieved by means of an adhesive or by stitching. Interpenetration may be achieved by needle-punching or needling or by impregnating the fire-resistant material with the intermescent material.
