Abstract

Collecting chambers (24 and 25) are connected in a transparent casing (20) of the apparatus opposite a multipath valve (22) and are used to accommodate a sponge (23) which can be moved in a reciprocating manner through a pipe (14) to be cleaned. Surrounded by the collecting chambers (24 and 25), the latter have assigned to them by-pass channels (28 and 29) which are connected to the multipath valve (22) so that water flowing via a water inlet (21) from the multipath valve (22) in one direction or the other is prevented from excessively compressing the sponge (23) inside the collecting chambers (24 and 25). The water fed via the water inlet (21) from the multipath valve (22) to the chamber (24 or 25) is therefore able to rinse the sponge (23) thoroughly and finally, together with the contaminants, reaches an outflow system, which is not illustrated, via the water outlet (30). <IMAGE>
