Abstract

In a filter press having filter plates (10) which can be individually slid by a transport element, each filter plate (10) is locked to the following filter plate by a bar (16), which is latched in a positive-fit manner by a latching element (22, 24) on the preceding filter plate (10) and is released on removal of this preceding filter plate. However, even after release of the bar (16), the filter plate (10) remains coupled to the following filter plate by a friction-fit coupling, for example by a spring (18) acting on the bar, the coupling force of this friction-fit coupling being dimensioned smaller than the tractive force of the transport element, but greater than the adhesion between the filter plates effected by the filter cake. As a result, unintentional rolling away of the filter plate after release of the bar is prevented. <IMAGE>
