Abstract
1522387 Cathode materials and processing PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 24 Oct 1975 [9 Jan 1975] 43800/75 Heading H1D The emitting surface of a dispenser cathode comprising a porous compressed metal body containing Ba scandate is polished to remove any surface layers of the scandate. Subsequent activating results in a layer of Be 2 O 3 and BaO a few molecules thick. The body is formed by compressing at 20 Î 10<SP>3</SP> kg/cm<SP>2</SP> a mixture of W and Ba scandate powder and heating in H 2 to 1,550‹ C. The emitting force is polished with an Al 2 O 3 plate, cleaned ultrasonically and activated by firing at 1,200‹ C. in H 2 . The body is mounted in a Mo cylinder for use in T.V. display and camera tubes.
