1522289 Coloured composite glass fibre CARL ZEISS STIFTUNG 11 March 1977 [13 March 1976] 10500/77 Heading C1M A coloured light-conducting composite glass fibre suitable for decorative purposes has a glass fibre core (a) and a glass sheath (b) surrounding and in contact with the core (a), the glass sheath (b) either being coloured at least at its outer surface or being colourless and having a coloured glass sheath (c) surrounding and in contact with the sheath (b), the sheath (b) comprising an optically transmissive layer of thickness 2-4 Ám. The colouring may have been effected by introducing one or more colouring metal oxides, e.g. CuO, CrO 3 , CoO 2 , into a glass-making batch used for forming a coloured glass sheath (b) or (c) or by staining.
