Abstract

1522068 Collating sheets XEROX CORP 22 July 1976 [28 July 1975] 30539/76 Heading B8R In a sheet collating apparatus in which sheets from a xerographic copier are sequentially delivered into trays 22<SP>1</SP> mounted in a vertical or horizontal array, the sheets are diverted from a suction belts conveyer 29<SP>1</SP> by deflection fingers 30<SP>1</SP> integral with each tray. Each tray is pivotable at 55 and can be moved by a solenoid 70 from an operative position in which its fingers deflect a sheet into a tray to an inoperative position. Such pivoting also serves to enlarge the entrance to the receiving tray. As shown, the fingers of one tray deflect sheets into the preceeding tray, but the arrangement may be such that they deflect sheets into their own tray (Fig. 1, not shown).
