1522029 Electrical connectors CANNON ELECTRIC (GREAT BRITAIN) Ltd 28 Sept 1976 [30 Sept 1975] 39943/75 Heading H2E An electrical connection assembly comprises a flexible strip circuit 8 having electrical tracks, a member having two parallel rows of metallic contact tabs, a substantially rectangular frame, having a central longitudinally extending leg, formed of electrically insulating material, and spring means of a substantially U cross-section fitted over the central leg and attached thereto, In a first embodiment, Figs. 1 and 6, a plurality of spring clips 2 are mounted on respective reduced cross-sectional portions of the leg 3. A flexible circuit having exposed conducting pads is threaded through the gaps defined by the leg 3 and side portions 6, 7 of the frame with the pads outermost, the spring clips, which may be coated with insulating material forcing the pads, or other exposed portions of the circuit, into electrical contact with tabs of a bus bar which enter the gaps as shown. In a second embodiment, Figs. 7 and 9, a single spring clip is employed having pressure applying portions 11 and fingers 10 with tongues 12. The central leg 13 is of substantially constant cross-section and is provided at intervals with pairs of ears 14. The spring clip is mounted over the leg with the tongues 12 engaging behind the ears 14 to lock the clip in place. A flexible circuit 16 is threaded through the gaps as before. A clamp may be employed to retain the connector in the mated state.
