Abstract

1521877 Colouring wood K C BUGG 12 May 1977 20060/77 Heading D1B Wood is coloured by applying a coating of a silicone liquid and heating to above 170‹C but below the ignition temperature of the wood, the silicone liquid having a viscosity of at least 75 centistokes at the treatment temperature and being inert to the primary constituents of the wood. Dimethyl siloxane and phenylmethyl polysiloxane polymers may be used in heated baths of liquor, alternatively the wood is heated after being removed from the bath, infra-red heaters or hot air ovens being used.
