Abstract

152,152. Coleman, C. J. July 24, 1919. Washing-machines with clothes carried upon moving frames.-The clothes are suspended from a rack 1 which is given vertical reciprocations in a washing tank 12. The rack consists of a rectangular frame 2 the side members of which are notched at 3 to receive the ends of the rods holding the clothes. These rods comprise a lower bar 5 over which the garments are thrown and to which they are clamped by an upper bar 4 provided with resilient projections 6 or rings and secured to the lower bar 5 by stirrups 7 or rubber bands. The bars are clamped in the rack 2 by a hinged frame 8. The rack may be operated by a counterbalanced lever or may be duplicated as shown in Fig. 2. The tank may be fitted with a water-heating coil as described in Specification 148,047, [Class 64 (i), Heating liquids &c.].
