1521402 Preventing fraud GUNTHER WAGNER PELIKAN WERKE GmbH 3 June 1976 [20 June 1975] 22977/76 Heading B6A [Also in Divisions C4 and D2] The backs of airline tickets or other printed forms are coated with hot carbon to which up to 8 % reagent has been added. Upon application of a suitable testing substance, the reagent forms a verification colour. In examples, a coloured complex is formed when the reagent is nickel chloride and the testing substance is diacetyl dioxime in butanone ethanol. Alternatively an undissolved dye such as chrysoidine or Sudan yellow is used as the reagent and toluene or butanone alcohol as the testing substance. In a third form, a colour precursor is used as the reagent and a developer, e.g. salicylic acid in butanone alcohol as the testing substance.
