The elements may be oblate elipsoids or paraboloids of revolution about a line intersecting the parabola and extending parallel to its directrix. The elements may be of closed cell polyurethane foam or formed as hollow bodies of plastics or metal. The density or dimensions of the elements are selected for covering a particular liquid so that they float therein at the level of their maximum circumference.
