Abstract
1520601 Pyrotechnic compositions PAINSWESSEX LTD 4 March 1977 [11 March 1976 (3)] 09850/76 09851/76 and 09852/76 Heading CID A granular pyrotechnic composition contains 1-13% by weight of cured epoxy resin as a binder. The composition may be made by diluting components interacting to form the resin with an evaporable organic diluent, mixing with the pyrotechnic ingredients, and then passing through a sieve to form the granules before curing is completed. The granules may be broken down and compressed to a solid mass. Alternatively the granules may be compressed while curing is taking place. Coloured smoke compositions are made from a dyestuff, sucrose or lactose as a fuel, potassium chlorate, kaolin, zinc oxide, and an epoxy resin prepolymer, together with a curing agent. Red flare compositions contain magnesium powder, potassium perchlorate, and strontium nitrate. Riot control compositions contain temporary incapacitation agents, for example o-chlorobenzylidene malonitrile (C.S.), tear gas, or dibenzoxazepine.
