Abstract

1519793 Children's vehicle seats CORBEAU EQUIPE Ltd 17 Aug 1976 [18 Aug 1975] 34217/75 Heading A4J A child's safety seat for vehicles has anchorage straps 48-51 extending rearwardly to securement points in the vehicle and harness straps 77-79 extending forwardly to pass in front of the child, an upper pair of anchorage straps 48, 49 passing through slots 36, 37 in the seat and being connected at respective end regions in front of the seat to end regions of respective associated harness straps 77 by connectors 68 incapable of passing through the slots 36, 37. Connectors 68 comprises buckles connected to loops in anchorage straps 48, 49 or in shoulder straps 77 and receiving the end regions of shoulder straps 77 or anchorage straps 48, 49. Anchorage straps 48, 49 have resilient hooks 60, 60' and 61, 61 at their end regions for releasable connection to plates 62, 63 bolted to the vehicle. Lower anchorage straps 50, 51 connected to plates 54, 55 bolted to the vehicle have resilient hooks 58, 58' and 59, 59' releasably connected to apertured plates 46, 47 on the seat. The harness includes a body strap having a rear section 78 passed through slots 38, 39 in the seat and connected by buckles 80 to front sections 79 connected to the shoulder straps 77 and having a releasable fastening 82 at their ends. The anchorage straps 50, 51 may pass through the slots 38, 39 and be connected by buckles to the body strap. The anchorage straps are passed through buckles 69-72 to allow adjustment in length. To allow the seat to be used for different height children, it may include a second pair of upper slots above or below slots 36, 37. The seat comprises a metal frame 14, 15, 16, 17 upholstered with foam rubber 12 and covered with a plastics layer 13. Wooden back and seat boards 18, 19 are not provided with the rubber on their seen and under-surfaces.
