1519678 Safety seats BSG INTERNATIONAL Ltd 18 Nov 1976 [19 Nov1975] 48105/76 Heading A4J [Also in Divisions A3 and B7] Apparatus for restraining a seated vehicle occupant in an emergency comprises lower torso restraining means - a child's seat 4 or a tunnel member 5b - with a panel 5a; 5a, b pivotally supported thereon and a pair of straps 7 connected either to the panel or to levers 19, the straps serving to anchor the apparatus but to allow limited inertial displacement on vehicle deceleration whereupon the panel is pivoted upwardly directly or indirectly by the straps to a protective position in front of the user's chest.
