Abstract

1519453 Removing boiler tubes REYROLLE PARSONS Ltd 25 July 1975 [29 July 1974] 33435/74 Heading B4C Tube extraction equipment for removing tubes 3 from a tube plate 1 comprises a mandrel 10 co-operating with two or more internally tapered collets 11, 12 these being mounted in a frame 8 such that movement of the mandrel 10 towards the tube by rotation of a nut 23 causes the mandrel 1 to force figured outside surfaces of the collets into contact with the tube. Concentric with tube 8 is an externally threaded tube 11 and rotation of a nut 26 threaded thereon by means of drive key 31 and chain and pinion system 28, 29 causes the mandrel and collets to pull out the tube 3. Spacer pieces 32 projecting from the frame 8 into another tube 6 prevent rotation of the frame. In a second embodiment a simpler type of extractor 13 described having a single tube with collet retaining insert therein.
