Abstract

1519446 Furnace wall construction McKECHNIE REFRACTORY PRODUCTS Ltd 5 Sept 1975 [17 Sept 1974] 40358/74 Heading F4B [Also in Division D2] An insulation system incorporates an insulation material comprising a length of felt 11 made of refractory fibres capable of withstanding temperatures of at least 2000‹ F., the fibres being bonded together by a colloidal inorganic substance which is stable at high temperatures, said felt being corrugated and folded in the manner shown. Hangers 41 may be incorporated in the felt to hang the insulation material on a supporting surface. In one embodiment, an exterior composite insulation panel comprising a central mat of slag or mineral wool sandwiched between metallic mesh is supported on a vertical wall surface by studs, and the insulation material comprising felt 11 is supported adjacent said panel by means of metallic prongs (Figs. 6, 7, not shown).
