Abstract
1519327 Electromagnetic horns ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 10 Oct 1975 [12 Oct 1974] 41597/75 Heading G5J The vibration of a diaphragm 12 of an electromagnetic signal horn is controlled by a member 21 which extends into a light path 24 between a light source 22 and an optical receiver 23, to switch off the current to the excitation windings 16 of an electromagnet 15 on displacement of the armature 14 of the diaphragm 12. Preferably the switching is effected by thick-film circuitry 19 (Fig. 2, not shown) which comprises: an operational amplifier to boost the signal from an optical receiver in the form of a phototransistor, and a switching device, possibly a thyristor, but preferably a Darlington circuit suitably protected against transients, to supply the excitation windings. Suitable alternative circuitry may be provided if a photoresistor or photodiode is used as the optical receiver. A Zener diode/resistor voltage stabilizer may be used in connection with said circuitry, for use in motor vehicles. The light source may be an incandescent lamp but is preferably a L.E.D. The position of the optical arrangement is preferably adjustable by a screw 25.
