Electro-magnetic current-meters; resistances, measuring; inductances and capacities, measuring.-An instrument for measuring the ratio of the strength of two currents consists of two coils d, with or without iron cores and pole-pieces, each traversed by one of the currents, and acting oppositely on an uncontrolled armature a rotating about an axis b. The sensitiveness may be varied by varying the angle between the axes of the coils d. In a modification, two armatures, each acted on by one of the coils, are attached to the same spindle. In a further modification, Fig. 5, two curved armatures g attached to opposite ends of a non-magnetic beam h are attracted into solenoids d carrying the currents to be compared. A single curved armature acted on at opposite ends by the two coils may' replace the two armatures g and beam h. The apparatus is applicable for the measurement of resistances, inductances, and capacities, and in conjunction with variable resistances, for level indicators, speed indicators, and signalling apparatus for the transmission of orders &c.
