Abstract

1519073 Electrical connectors PRESSAC Ltd 17 Jan 1977 [22 Jan 1976] 02468/76 Heading H2E An electrical contact for receiving a male contact blade, comprises a first contact surface provided by a spring tongue 1, and second contact surfaces provided by substantially rigid cantilever portions 4a, 5a extending from a body portion la of the contact, the surfaces being arranged so that upon insertion of the blade the first and second surfaces slidably engage and grip the blade, the first surface making substantially line contact with the blade and the second surfaces being bridged thereby to make substantially point contacts therewith. As described, one or more contacts may be accommodated in respective bores in an insulative housing, one or more lugs 2, 3 being crimped about a bared lead and/or adjacent insulation thereof. The first contact surface is provided by a curved or angled portion 1b of the tongue 1, the second surfaces each being defined by a rounded edge 4b on its respective portion 4a, 5a.
