Abstract

1518955 Absorption refrigerators A F GUTHRIE 8 Oct 1975 41299/75 Heading F4H A refrigerator for use in a caravan comprises laterally adjacent deep freeze and cooling compartments 12, 14 mounted in a single cabinet and both operated by a single absorption unit 16 located at the rear of the cabinet. As shown, the cooling compartment has a front opening door and the deepfreeze compartment has a top opening with a lid 15. The absorption unit may be workable from a gas burner and/or from a motor vehicle electrical supply and/or from a main electrical supply and/or from a paraffin burner. The absorption unit 16 includes a chimney 18 above the burner, the burner and an electrical heating element both being in contact with primary and secondary boilers 22, 24 connected by a pipe 28. The unit includes a pre-condenser 32, a condenser 34, evaporator coils 38 around the deepfreeze compartment 12, a secondary evaporator 44 in an air duct for cooling the cooling compartment 14, and an absorber 48.
