Abstract

1518369 Endless-belt filter NORDENGREN PATENTER AB 15 Sept 1976 [16 Sept 1975] 38112/76 Heading B1D An endless belt-type filter comprises a plurality of support bars 6 disposed to underlie the upper run of the belt 4 and arranged spaced apart and parallel in the longitudinal direction of the belt, and a suction box (Fig. 1, not shown), to draw off filtrate and arranged for contact with the under side of the upper run of the belt between two adjacent support bars, wherein each support bar comprises two longitudinally extending ridges with planar apex surfaces to carry the belt and separated by a channel into which a pipe 13 opens to supply a lubricating water to form a film on the apex surfaces. Filter cloth support belt may be formed of vulcanised rubber with internal cord reinforcement and may have upstanding edge portions (2, 3), transverse drainage ribs and filtrate-removal perforations along its axis. Plate 11 covering the upper surface of the support bar reduces friction and has outwardly directed portions to provide a drainage path for the water. The belt and filter cloth may be separated on the return path for cleaning by water sprays. The apparatus may be used for filtration of gypsum from phosphoric acid.
