Abstract

1518321 Chemically cleaning metals BURMAH OIL TRADING Ltd 30 June 1976 [25 April 1975] 17301/75 Heading C7E Surfaces, particularly the interior surfaces of steam boilers are cleaned by contacting the surface with an aqueous solution comprising a polycarboxylic acid containing at least 3 carboxyl groups and/or an anion derived from said acid. The acid which is obtained by oxidizing Diels-Alder reaction product of a conjugated diene and a dienophile is preferably 2, 3, 5 tricarboxycyclopentane acetic acid in a concentration of 0À1-6 wt. per cent and a pH of 1-6.
