Abstract

1518157 Adjusting vehicle headlamps CIBIE PROJECTEURS 18 Sept 1975 [19 Sept 1974] 38434/75 Heading F4R An adjusting device for vehicle headlamps comprises a support 12 adapted to be secured to a vehicle body, a slide 14 movable on the support through a series of relatively stable positions from each of which there is resistance to movement, and an abutment element 16 adapted to be connected to the headlamp, the slide having a ramp 18 engaging follower projections 60 on the abutment element so that movement of the slide displaces the element and tilts the headlamp. The slide is moved by means of a manually operable lever 20 which has two pairs of laterally projecting trunnions 36, 38, one pair being pivotally mounted on cylindrical bearing surfaces 30 formed in the support 12 and the other pair being pivotally engaged in elongated recesses (90) at the apex of a prismatic portion 58 of the slide. The ends of the trunnions which are seated in the surfaces 30 engage resiliently in depressions 104 in the walls of the portion 58 to define the stable positions of the slide. The abutment element 16 slides at right angles to the support through guide apertures 66, 70 and is connected to the headlamp by means of an adjusting screw 74 having a knurled head 78.
