Abstract

1517714 Coated printing blanks CROSFIELD ELECTRONICS Ltd 31 Oct 1975 [18 Nov 1974] 49861/74 Heading B2E [Also in Division B6] A method of making a gravure printing blank suitable for imaging with a laser beam comprises forming a uniform array of cells or grooves in a moral member coating the entire member with plastics material by electrostatically spraying with powder which fills the cells and grooves as well as covering the areas between the cells or grooves and heat-curing. The metal member is preferably copper or copper-surfaced; the plastics material is epoxy resin containing hardening additives such as aluminium oxide, titanium oxide and/or carbon black to allow for subsequent machining.
