Abstract

1517509 Mixing liquids BRITISH PETROLEUM CO Ltd 16 Sept 1975 [26 Sept 1974] 41863/74 Heading B1C Apparatus for homogenizing a liquid comprises a tank there - for and a pump inside or outside the tank which recirculates the contents through a Coanda body immersed in the liquid; a Coanda body being defined as one having a slot with one lip extended and diverging from the slot axis so that liquid emerging from the slot tends to stick to the extended lip. As shown the body may have an annular slot 9 the emerging liquid from which flows through a venturi-like body, or over a tulipshaped one, which comprises the extended lip 10, 11 or 11'. An array of such bodies may be downwardly directed see Fig. 3 (not shown). Fig. 4 (not shown) depicts an arrangement in which the liquid flows over a structure in the base of the tank comprising portions of two external Coanda bodies.
