Abstract

1517084 Releasable fastenings BUNKER RAMO CORP 8 July 1976 [8 July 1975] 28508/76 Heading E2B [Also in Division H2] A fastening and locking device has a male part 1 receivable in a channel 14 of a female part 13, the male part comprising three flexible blades 2, 3, 4 extending from a base 5, the middle blade 3 having at its free end 3b a T-shaped portion 6 which normally extends between the ends 2b, 4b of outer blades 2, 4 so as to maintain the separation between them, and the outer blades 2, 4 having oppositely directed locking shoulders 8, 9 which when the male part is inserted into the channel following flexure of blade 3 to move T-shaped portion 6 out from between the outer blades engage over surfaces 15 at the rear of the opening to lock the male part in position. As shown, projections 11 extending from opposite sides of the lower face of base 5 serve to engage a member 16 on the surface at the front of the channel so as to limit the depth of insertion of the blades. The middle blade 3 has a portion 7 extending out of a plane in which blades 2, 4 are disposed so that on insertion of the blades portion 7 cams against a surface 10 of the channel and moves T-shaped portion 6 out from between blades 2, 4, the portion returning to its normal position on full insertion of the male part so that the part cannot be released by flexure of blades 2, 4 towards one another until middle blade 3 has been flexed to remove portion 6 from between the blades 2, 4.
