Abstract
1516663 Supply circuits for electrostatic precipitators LODGE-COTTRELL Ltd 9 March 1976 [19 March 1975] 11326/75 Heading H2H A supply circuit for an electrostatic precipitator P comprises a bridge rectifier BR to which output lines L1, L2 are connected for supplying a high voltage to discharge electrodes ED, and an isolating device D connected in each output line, each of the isolating devices having a low forward impedance and a high reverse impedance so that each discharge electrode is isolated against consequential loss of high voltage if a temporary short circuit occurs at another discharge electrode. The high voltage between the electrodes ED, EC is monitored by a potential divider RB, RS and supplied to a control C along with a current signal from a current transformer CT. A step-up transformer TR is connected to the mains supply M via a voltage regulator autotransformer VR which is adjusted by the control C to increase the voltage supplied to the transformer TR until the potential across the electrodes ED, EC levels off. Each isolating device D comprises a diode stack and the circuit is contained in an oil filled tank T. The diode stacks may be replaced by thermionic valves and the transformer VR may be replaced by a saturable reactor or thyristor arrangement.
