Abstract
1516648 Polymerizing monomers on used polytetrafluoro ethylene INST KHIMICHE FIZIKI AKAD NAUK SSSR 26 June 1975 27125/75 Headings C3L and C3P Used polytetrafluoroethylene is regenerated by subjecting used particulate polytetrafluorethylene of particle-size not greater than 100 microns to ionizing radiation before or during contacting of the polytetrafluoroethylene with a monomer of formula C2FxR4-x wherein x = 1 to 4, R is -H, -CF3, Cl, C6H5 or C6F5. Examples are given in which (a) polytetrafluoroethylene is treated with tetrafluoroethylene using gamma radiation, accelerated electrons or plasma treatment; (b) polytetrafluoroethylene is grafted with trifluorochloroethylenes, vinylidene fluoride, or vinyl fluoride or a mixture of tetrafluoroethylene with hexafluoropropene ethylene or perfluorostyrene, or a mixture of vinylidene fluoride with ethylene, or a mixture of trifluorochloroethylene with hexafluoropropene, using gamma radiation.
