Abstract

1516089 Ear rings A ROLLAUER [trading as C M R] 23 Sept 1975 [25 Sept 1974] 41677/74 Heading A3H An ear ring is of substantially annular configuration in the closed position and formed from a length of metal strip shaped to form a tube having a longitudinal seam 1a with abutting edges, one end 1b of the tube providing a socket for receiving an arcuately curved tongue of spigot 2 secured to and extending from the other end of the tube, during formation of the ear-ring, the tube being bent around a mandrel so that its ends abut with the seam lying adjacent the mandrel so as to be on the inward face of the annulus. The strip and tongue may be of gold and/or silver, an alloy thereof or gold plated silver. The tongue, which may be a length of wire is crimped or soldered into the other end of the tube. Several rings may be formed simultaneously by winding the tube helically on the mandrel.
