Abstract

1423521 Jewellery J NEWMAN 16 March 1973 [17 March 1972] 12662/72 Heading A3H An article comprises at least one arcuate tube pivoted at one end and telescopically receiving in its other end at least one resilient strip formed with an enlarged end which abuts the turned-over end of the tube to prevent withdrawal, the enlarged end being a close sliding fit in the tube. In Fig. 1, the ring or bracelet comprises a base member 10 of precious metal (including a gem) pivoted at 15, 21 to two arcuate tubes 11, 12 telescopically receiving a resilient strip 13 having enlarged and splayed ends 18, 24 frictionally engaging the tubes 11, 12 and retained by the turned over ends 25, 26. The tubes 11, 12 and strip 13 are of semi-circular cross-section with the flat side facing inwards, and the enlarged ends 18, 24 result from cutting away the centre section of the strip 13. In Fig. 4, a wrist-watch 35 is pivoted at 38 to pairs of tubes 42 receiving resilient strips 37. The tubes 42 of each pair converge, and are connected by cross tubes 43, 44. Three or more tube pairs and strips may be used for the wrist-watch or finger ring, and the tubes may be parallel.
