Abstract
1515519 Jacketed vessel for heat exchange SYBRON CORP 22 Oct 1975 [24 Oct 1974] 43388/75 Heading B1X [Also in Division F4] A jacketed vessel 1, such as a chemical reactor, comprises an enclosed chamber 2, 3, 4 surrounded by a jacket 5 having an inlet 10 and an outlet 11 for a heat exchange medium. Between the chamber and jacket there is a helical strip 13 welded to the jacket, a helical wall 15 welded to the chamber wall 2, and a cylindrical wall 16, Fig. 3, tightly surrounding the helical wall 15. The cylindrical wall is welded to an annular plate 17 which is welded to the jacket. In use the heat exchange medium is constrained by the helical and cylindrical walls 15 and 16 to follow a helical path adjacent the chamber wall 2, there being a substantially non-flowing body of the medium in the space above the annular plate 17 between the cylindrical wall 16 and the jacket 5.
