Drip-retaining devices.-A drip-retaining device to be applied to the neck of a bottle consists of a tubular piece of elastic material, or of non-elastic material supplied with an elastic packing, having external grooves preferably of dovetail section down which the drips travel to an annular channel at the base. As shown in Fig. 2, the tubular piece 1 of elastic material is slightly conical with a bevelled edge at its upper end, and the grooves 4 of dovetail section terminate within the channel space 3. In another arrangement, Fig. 4, the tubular piece 5 is of metal, porcelain, glass, or other solid non-elastic material with a lining 7 of elastic packing and is supported by its upper edge 6 on the top of the bottle.
