Abstract

1515332 Protecting motor installations SIEMENS AG 23 May 1975 [11 June 1974] 22885/75 Heading H2K A monitoring arrangement for a plurality of motors such as 3 determines, for each motor in turn, whether the phase angle between a current and a voltage supplied to the motor is within a predetermined range. The motors may be three-phase hysterisis motors driving centrifuges, phase angles outside the predetermined range signifying asynchronous operation or failure of one of the phases of the supply. A phase angle comparator 19b receives a first alternating signal u representing one of the phase-to-phase voltages and a second alternating signal i 2 , derived from a scanner 25, representing one of the phase currents of each motor in turn. After converting (20, 32) both alternating signals into square waves, a first short pulse c<SP>1</SP> is generated a fixed delay after the leading edge of the voltage square wave and a second short pulse b<SP>1</SP> is generated at the leading edge of the current square wave. If the motor 3 is running normally, these pulses will coincide, and this is detected by a NAND gate 42 to provide, via a pulse lengthening circuit 43, a steady output signal s2.
