Abstract

1515234 Bearings ELECTROLOID Ltd 24 Feb 1977 [25 Feb 1976] 07357/76 Heading F2A A bearing for an electroplating barrel comprises a hub 3, located on one face of barrel wall 1, on which an internal bearing surface 4 is formed, mating with a bearing surface 5 provided on a fixed tubular boss 6 attached to fixed support 2. An annular bearing sleeve 11, which is attached to flange 10 bolted to end plate 8, projects into the interior of boss 6. Within the sleeve 11, which rotates with the barrel end wall, is seated a tubular guide member 12, located in the boss 6 by dogs 14 which project into grooves 15 on the internal surface of the boss. At least the exposed surfaces of the bearing are made of plastics material, e.g. polypropylene. Guide member 12 is adapted to carry an electrical conductor from aperture 13 in the fixed support 2 into the interior of the barrel. Clearances are provided between dogs 14, and grooves 15, between member 12 and sleeve 11 and between bolts 9 and the apertures in flange 10. A corrosion-resistant liner 7, e.g. an asbestos composition, may be provided on at least one of the bearing surfaces 4 or 5.
