Abstract

1514912 Staircases D L WARD 13 May 1975 [22 May 1974 18 Nov 1974] 46698/77 and 1888/78 Divided out of 1514911 Heading E1B A staircase which may be of spiral, winding or straight flight formation is formed by brackets 12, 14 which are joined together to form the bannisters. Each bracket 120 has first and second straight parts 38a, 34a in transversely spaced parallel disposition and each part provided with respective first and second holes 22a, 20a. A portion 16a of the bracket extends from one of the straight parts away from the other straight part and is connectable with the corresponding portion of an identical bracket i.e. by means of a bolt not shown, extending through holes in adjacent brackets corresponding to holes 18a and 19a. In a spiral case treadwindings are 20-24‹ and staircase pitch is adjusted by washers. Treads are of wood and separate handrail may be fixed to extension 43'. The construction may be used to form stepped shelving or display stands.
