Abstract

1514713 Connecting hoses to tankers SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ BV 11 June 1975 [13 June 1974] 26271/74 Heading B8E Apparatus for connecting hoses 5 to the pipelines 11 of a tanker 6 comprises fixed pipe pieces 16 on a base plate 19 and pipe pieces 17 rotatable connected thereto by swivels 18 and having first end couplings 25. The pieces 17 are rotatable from the connected position shown to a stowed position (dot-dash lines), by rotary actuators. The hoses 5 have second end couplings 26 and are drawn up the ramp 36 of a slot 35 in the bow of the tanker by a cable 30 passing to a winch 9. When the couplings which are preferably quick acting have been drawn together they are preferably hydraulically operated to effect coupling after which a valve built into the flanges 39, 40 is opened. The hose 5 may come from a turntable of monomooring via a loading boom supported by a derrick.
