Abstract

1395928 Pipe couplings EMCO WHEATON UK Ltd 27 July 1973 [28 July 1972] 35505/72 Heading F2G Latches 7, rotated about their pivots 8 by hydraulic rams 13, are locked in the engaged position by wedges 15, simultaneously moved by rams 16. To effect unlatching, pressure is applied through line 23 to move spool valve 20 downwardly, so that the end of extension 21 drops into recess 24. This results in operating pressure being applied through line 25 to further extend rams 13, so as to relieve the wedges 15 of the pressure of ends 18. As soon as the wedges are freed, the operating pressure in line 26 retracts them and, as extension 21 rides up out of recess 24, the direction of liquid flow in line 25 is reversed by valve 20 and the latches 7 are swung clear. An adapter ring (31, Figs. 3-6, not shown), has means (34, 35) for securing it to flange 3.
