Abstract
1513981 Measuring linear displacement electrically SIEMENS AG 18 Nov 1976 [20 Nov 1975] 48035/76 Heading G1N The position of a member 7 (Figs. 1a, 1b), movable in the direction of arrow 12, determines the area of a one-turn loop 6 located in the air-gap 5 of an A.C.-energized core 1, and is measured by the E.M.F. induced in the conductor forming the loop. In another embodiment (Fig. 3) which does not use a magnetic core, the A.C. flux is produced by two separate one-turn loops comprising conductor rails 43, 44 inter-connected at end support 41 by conductor 49, and conductor rails 46, 47 inter-connected by conductor 50. A member 45 slides along rails 43, 44 and determines the area of a loop starting at terminal 59 and comprising section 55, inter-connected terminals 57, 65 and section 47 leading to terminal 61. A similar one-turn loop is associated with member 48 movable independently along rails 46, 47.
