Abstract

1513739 Screen rake NORTH WEST WATER AUTHORITY 29 Sept 1975 [9 Oct 1974] 43707/74 Heading B1D A screen (e.g. for sewage) has parallel spaced apart bars 12 and a power operated rake 19 on a carriage reciprocable longitudinally (e.g. by chain) of the bars to remove solid matter therefrom wherein by means of a piston/cylinder motor mounted on the carriage, the tines 24 are movable between a working position in which they engage between the bars 12 and an inoperative position (Fig. 3) in which they are held clear of the bars. The tines 24 may be carried on one or two tine plates 22 tangentially mounted on rotatable cylinder(s) 21. The rake carriage 19 is counterbalanced and moved by motor 30. Screened solids are delivered onto carriage 16 by scraper 31. Reversal of carriage and actuation of piston/ cylinder motors is controlled by limit switches. Solids are raked upwardly and the tines disengage on the downward travel.
