Abstract
1479138 Filter screen BIOCONCEPT Ltd 25 June 1974 [20 June 1973] 29304/73 Heading B1D Material such as sewage sludge is moved up an inclined (or vertical) filter screen 1 by a plurality of brushes or scrapers 14 spaced along a frame 12, 15 which is reciprocated by motor 10 and so mounted as to engage the screen during the upward stroke while being spaced from the screen during the downward stroke. In Fig. 5 two further motors 34 (only one shown) cause arms 29 to pivot about points 31 to lift the frame clear of the screen (Fig. 6, not shown). Motor 10 is mounted at 10a on a carriage 9, pivoted to arms 8 and slidable in side channels 12 of the frame. The motors may be pneumatic/hydraulic rams or electrically rotated screws. Motors 34 are controlled by limit switches as the frame 11, 12 approaches its end positions. Screen 1 may be a perforate plate or comprises parallel bars extending along or across the screen length. To prevent material rolling down it, the screen may have transverse ridges or lines of pins (Figs 7a to 7c, not shown) coinciding with the end positions of each brush. In Figs. 1 to 4 not shown only one motor 10 is provided, the frame being lifted and held in the raised position and subsequently released by cooperating cams, cam followers and latches.
