Abstract

On intravenous administration of liquids into the human body it is important that the flow of liquid is controlled and that an alarm signal is triggered if flow stops. The liquid supply unit comprises an infusion bottle (12) which is fastened on a stand (11). A pump (15) with its actuation member (10) is also fitted to the same stand. Between the infusion bottle (12) and the pump (15) there is provided a drop separator (13). A bead (25) floats on top of the liquid in the drop separator (13). If there is no liquid in the drop separator the bead (25) seals off the section (24) relative to the outflow tube (14), so that a vacuum is formed in the pump (15). Due to the existence of the vacuum a signal is triggered by an alarm system and signals the absence of a flow of liquid. <IMAGE>
