Abstract
1513274 Tuyeres SUMITOMO METAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 30 Sept 1975 39970/75 Heading F4B. The external surfaces 2 and 3 of the nozzle portion 1 of a liquid cooled copper blast furnace tuyere are provided with a calorized layer 4 formed by diffusing a powdery mixture of alumina and aluminium at a temperature of about 800‹ C. A similar calorized coating may also be provided on the internal surface (9) of the cooling jacket 8 (see Fig. 2, not shown). Blast gas is fed into the furnace through a nozzle 7, and cooling liquid enters the jacket 8 in the direction of arrow B and is discharged therefrom in the direction of arrow C. The thickness of the calorized layer is between 0À5 and 5 mm. on the external surfaces 2 and 3 and between 0À1 and 1 mm. on the inner surface of the cooling jacket.
