Abstract

1511931 Switching circuit INSTRON Ltd 19 Jan 1977 [27 Jan 1976] 03105/76 Heading H3T [Also in Division H2] In a circuit for switching an electromagnet L, applying a positive voltage (logic 1) to the Control Input sets bi-stable G1, G2, turning on Q1 and Q2 allowing current to flow in L. When this current reaches a predetermined value, sensed by the voltage drop across R, Q3 conducts, resetting the bi-stable and turning off Q1, a circulating current then flowing via diode D2. Returning the control input to its former level (logic 0) turns off Q1, Q2, the current in L then decaying via D1, D2. The rate of rise of current on switching on is the same as the rate of fall of current on switching off.
