Abstract

1510740 Pivots CAM GEARS Ltd 7 Sept 1976 [11 Aug 1975] 33368/75 Heading E2F In an idler pivot assembly for a vehicle steering system, a pivot pin 6 is provided with a tapered pin part at one end and a body part at the other end, the body part comprising first and second frusto-conical parts 8 and 9 arranged substantially co-axially and with the largest diameter ends thereof nearest to each other, the pin assembly being located in a housing 1 having a frusto-conical bore 2 within which is mounted first and second axially spaced plastics sleeves 13, 14 which have inner and outer frusto-conical surfaces which are complementary to tapered surfaces of the bore 2 and the frusto-conical parts 8 and 9 of the body part of the pin 6. As wear of the sleeves 13, 14 takes place, the body part 8 may move progressively into the taper of the sleeve 13 while the sleeve 14 may move progressively on to the body part 9 under spring loading.
