Abstract

1510542 Marine structures E KNUTSEN 2 June 1975 23841/75 Heading E1H [Also in Division B7] The foundation raft of a marine structure is built afloat by providing a plurality of buoyant construction elements in a body of water, each element having opposed side surfaces and at least two intersecting slots therein, assembling the elements in abutting relationship with their slots aligned, positioning reinforcing means in the slots, filling the slots with waterproof settable material e.g. concrete and finally forming the remainder of the marine structure on the raft. In one form, each construction element 50 is hexagonal and the reinforcing means is positioned in the upper portions of the slots only so that the base area of the raft is weakened and can deform when settling onto an underwater bed. The elements may be positioned relative to one another so that their bottoms define a surface conforming to the contour of the underwater bed.
