1510182 Railway vehicle undercarriages CREUSOT-LOIRE 3 July 1975 [4 July 1974 19 June 1975] 28075/75 Heading B7L A rail vehicle bogie comprises a cross member 6 for receiving the weight of a vehicle body 16 at each end thereof, the member 6 being articulated on a pivot pin 5 carried by a bogie bolster 1, and resilient blocks 30 interposed between the ends of the cross member 6 and the bolster 1. The pivot 5 includes axially spaced opposed radially extending surfaces 10, 11 arranged with spacing above and below the cross member 6 to permit limited movement of the cross member axially of the pivot. The vertical flexibility of the blocks 30 is such that most of the vertical loading on the member 6 is transmitted through the blocks 30 rather than through the pin 5. The member 6 is retained on the pin 5 by a ring 12 and nut 13 which apply a slight prestressing to blocks 30 prior to the loading by the vehicle body, which bears on flat upper surfaces of respective support members 40 of which parts 41 each have a convex surface engaged on a wearing member 22 at one end of the member 6. A plastics ring 8 is interposed between the member 6 and pin 5 which also carry annular rubbing plates 9 and 10 respectively, the plates 9 and 10 not normally contacting one another owing to the load supporting function of the blocks 30. A more complex form of the support members 40 including articulated angle members (20), Figs. 1-3 (not shown), is also described. The invention is also applicable to a bogie comprising two elementary bogies coupled together by two longitudinal equalizer members, the vehicle body being supported at the midlengths of the equalizer members and the ends of the equalizer members being supported on the bogie bolsters by cross members 6 as above, Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown).
