Abstract
1509251 Nuclear power plant BROWN BOVERI - SULZER TURBOMASCHINEN AG 3 April 1975 [11 April 1974] 13721/75 Heading G6C Nuclear power plant includes a reactor 1, machine groups 2-5 constituted by turbines, compressors &c., and gas conduits, the latter as well as rooms 8 for the individual plant component groups being hollowed out of rock 7; a tunnel 9 cut from the rock leads from the atmosphere to a component group, and a safety chamber 9<SP>1</SP> is afforded in the tunnel adjacent the component group, the chamber being closable relative to the atmosphere, by a door 12. In one embodiment, as shown, the tunnels and rooms extend vertically whilst in another embodiment (Figs. 2, 4, not shown) they extend horizontally. The plant may include a heliumcooled reactor operating in direct cycle with the turbines. The rooms and tunnels are lined with cast concrete 10 which may be reinforced or embed stressing elements.
