Abstract

The air-type contactor having a blade-supported hinged armature, magnetic blasting and arc chambers has a moving switching element which is constructed as a U-shaped passive switching link with contact elements (4) arranged on the broad side of the limb ends and 180 DEG rotation of the limbs, the centre part (3) of each limb, which is rotated through 90 DEG , in each case projecting into the arc chambers (9), on edge, through a narrow passage slot (32) in the narrow wall of each of the separate arc chambers (9). Each passage slot (32) is at the same time designed as a blasting-out opening of a smaller part of the arc chamber (9) with approximately 1/4 of the arc path for the one current direction during AC voltage switching operation. <IMAGE>
