Reinforced concrete. - Concrete structures exposed to sea water are reinforced by bars which present a mechanical bond with the concrete and have a protective coating to resist corrosion. The coating may be varnish or other composition applied by dipping the bars or by painting or spraying, or the bars may be oxidized, bronzed, or otherwise chemically treated to preserve them.
