Abstract

1508593 Solar heating; heat exchange elements BRITISH PETROLEUM CO Ltd 10 June 1975 [14 June 1974] 26458/74 Headings F4U and F4S A panel structure for the absorption of solar energy comprises parallel extruded plastics tubes 1 arranged side-by-side to provide a V-corrugated surface for receiving the solar radiation. As shown, the tubes 1 are of triangular crosssection, are connected between headers 3, 4 and are mounted on a flat thermally insulating base 2 beneath a double glazing cover 5. The tubes may be of polyethylene containing about 2% carbon black, polycarbonate or polystyrene.
